Imagine this: your dog, transformed by expert hands, learning new behaviours and skills while you go about your day-to-day, take a vacation, move, or take a break and let us handle the heavy lifting. That’s exactly what our Board and Train program offers. But here’s the key: while we handle the training, dogs aren’t machines that you can just “program and forget.” There’s no shortcut to maintaining a well-trained dog—just like there’s no shortcut to maintaining anything valuable in life.

When your dog returns home after their training, they’ll be equiped with new skills and better behaviour. However, it’s essential to expect at least 90 days of follow-up maintenance training to ensure those results last long-term. The best part? This process will be much easier now that your dog has already built a strong foundation with us—but you will need to commit to reinforcing what they’ve learned.

Think of it like buying a car. You didn’t have to build it yourself but to keep it running smoothly, you still need to change the oil, refill the gas, and rotate the tires. Similarly, after the Board and Train program, your dog will need consistent training to continue thriving.

Our program is highly effective. What might take you 4-6 months to achieve on your own, we accomplish in just 4-6 weeks thanks to our expert trainers. You’re investing in a fast-track transformation for your dog, and after we work our magic, we’ll teach you how to live with and maintain that newfound behaviour. Together, we’ll help you build a lasting bond with your dog through clear communication and a strong relationship.

What your dog will experience:

Home environment:

Your dog will stay at one of our trainer's beautiful country homes for 4-6 weeks. A home-based board and train program offers numerous advantages, including an immersive learning environment where every interaction reinforces training. Dogs benefit from real-life socialization, reduced stress, and more comfort compared to traditional kennels.

Personalized, one-on-one attention ensures their specific behavioural needs are addressed, leading to faster results. The home setting also mirrors the owner’s environment, making the transition back smoother and reinforcing consistency in daily routines. Overall, this approach provides a nurturing space for dogs to thrive while offering owners peace of mind.

We will keep your dog as long as needed to get things under control, achieve a transformation and have them ready to transition back into your care where you will work on relationship building and long-term success. Extreme cases of fear and aggression may take longer.

Commands taught:

Come, sit, down, heel, place, quiet, out, off, look, away, car, bed, kennel.
The dog will respond to commands on or off leash. If the dog has a great toy drive they will learn how to play fetch and tug.

Behaviour problems solved:

Reactivity, jumping, bolting, nipping/mouthing, chewing, counter surfing, reactivity, car manners, fence fighting, housebreaking, barking, territorial behaviours, and resource guarding.

We will also train for proper door greetings, jumping into the vehicle, low food drive/picky eating, being calm while putting on gear, wildlife harassment, stealing things (socks etc), staying off furniture unless commanded, reactivity to TV etc.

Distraction proofing:

The dog will be well-behaved in distractions on and off-leash.

Aggression/fear/anxiety brought under control:

Long-term work and maintenance may be required by you to see a deep-rooted change in the dog's brain. Not all dogs can be cured in 4-6 weeks.

When it comes to changing one's mindset, sometimes there is no magic solution or quick fix for aggression or anxiety issues.

Control happens quickly during the board and train and systems and procedures will be put in place so you can have peace in the home, take the dog places and have issues managed and under control but long-term rehab and training may need to be done to see a deep-rooted change in the brain where it becomes second nature for the dog to be calm, confident and non-reactive. It can take 6-12 months to see real change and that’s why we will work with you long-term after to ensure success.

Daily exercise and intensive training:

Hikes on the trainer's private trails, mountain bike rides, fetch, swimming, snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, agility, walks in cities and towns, parks, beaches, and camping. We are very outdoorsy people and your dog will join us on our adventures.

We train dogs 4-5 times a day and socialize 24/7. Your dog will go to work with the trainer most days so we can get them around people and dogs daily. When you get the dog home you will be required to do 3-4 short (3-5mins) training sessions per day to maintain what we’ve done and follow our boot-camp procedures to keep the dog sharp.

In-depth go-home lesson

You'll learn how to maintain your dog's training at home and the importance of consistency. The lesson will be in distractions either at our group class, at your home or at a public location.

Lifetime access to group classes

You'll receive lifetime access to our trainer-led weekly group classes for tune-ups and continued socialization.

Continued support

Unlimited text/email /phone support by the trainer for any dog-related questions or issues for the life of the dog. One year access to our private member's community for live bi-weekly coaching.

Training equipment

The package includes a professional e-collar, sure-fit bungee collar, custom UPK9 place board, slip/ prong collar (if required), trainer's quality food pouch, and 15-foot leash. The combined value is $575 for one dog.

Future boarding privileges

Short-term boarding is available at a discounted rate. Whether it be a weekend or a week, you will know your dog is with someone you trust who knows how to use your tools and maintain your training routine. This service is available only to Board and Train and our UPX grads

We couldn’t be more thrilled with the communication and support we’ve received so far during Maui’s Board and Train experience with Sara at Unleashed Potential PEI. Almost daily, we get updates, and even on the rare occasion when it’s not a full update, Sara always sends us adorable photos that reassure us Maui is doing great. I can not thank coach Sara and the team at Unleashed Potential enough for all the hard work and perseverance with my dog Daisy who did a board and train. She has gone from a very insecure fear nipping dog to a happier confident glowing bulldog! I would have never thought I would be able to take her to my children’s sports games and have her lay in peace next to me or have her off leash in my yard without disrupting the neighbourhood. Having Daisy e-collar trained was the bonus to her board and train stay, knowing I have a tool to reinforce my commands has been life changing. As a person that didn’t believe in them at first, I have certainly had my thoughts proven wrong. She is never in pain, or uncomfortable wearing and using her collar. She is living a much happier life than before, with much more freedom than ever. We have been able to make a few group training classes provided after her stay and they brought me to tears, happy tears! She doesn’t bark and lunge at the dogs, listens to my commands and isn’t taking off on me. I can not recommend Unleashed Potential to enough people, keep up the great work!
